Police Launch Investigation into Fatal Stabbing in Thalang
Phuket police have opened a full-scale investigation following the fatal stabbing of a man with a criminal record early this morning, October 16, on Thepkrasattri Road in Thalang. The victim, identified as 33-year-old Phongsathorn Jinowat, succumbed to his injuries shortly after being rushed to Thalang Hospital.

Officers from Thalang Police Station received an emergency alert from the 191 call centre at approximately 4:50 a.m., reporting a severely injured man lying by the roadside opposite Phuket Poly Products Co. in Thepkrasattri subdistrict.

Responding officers, led by Police Lieutenant Anusarn Klin-Kiew, arrived at the scene alongside rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation and an ambulance from Thalang Hospital.

Victim Found with Multiple Stab Wounds
Phongsathorn was discovered unconscious, with three stab wounds to the right side of his ribcage. Rescue personnel provided immediate first aid before transporting him to the hospital, where doctors confirmed his death shortly after arrival.

At the scene, authorities found several pieces of evidence, including:

  • A bicycle lying on its side near the body

  • A large pool of blood

  • A pair of sandals, believed to belong to the victim

The area was promptly cordoned off for forensic examination as investigators worked to gather more evidence.

Victim Recently Released from Prison
Police confirmed that the deceased, Phongsathorn Jinowat, had a history of criminal activity, having been recently released from prison. His record includes four prior convictions—two for theft and two for drug possession.

“We are reviewing CCTV footage in the area and speaking with witnesses to identify the assailant,” said Pol. Lt. Anusarn Klin-Kiew, the investigating officer.

A local resident was the first to report the incident, calling for help after spotting the injured man by the roadside.

Authorities Pursue Multiple Leads
Investigators are actively pursuing several leads but have yet to confirm a motive for the attack. Police continue to collect evidence, review surveillance footage, and interview potential witnesses.

Officers are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the search for the suspect. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine whether the crime was retaliatory, personal, or linked to past criminal activity.
